Formed in 1964, the Melting Point presents the fabulous JESTERS. Did you know their first record was recorded in Athens? Don't miss this magical evening, and do get here early for dinner and drinks! The Jesters were formed in 1964 with five high school band members and friends. The original group played locally in Athens, Georgia until reformed in 1967 with eight of the current ten pieces. The band produced a recording which was a recut of "Shake a Tail Feather" by The Five Du-Tones. In 1968, an album was recorded in Athens, Georgia that featured songs of current rhythm and blues hits. Touring throughout the southeast between 1967 and 1970, The Jesters performed with a multitude of hit recording artists including Marvin Gaye, The Platters, The Marvellettes, Jerry Butler, Patti LaBelle, and Jackie Wilson, among others. Within Entertainment Agencies, The Jesters became an in demand back up band for recording artists as well as a popular show band for the college circuit. The group disbanded in 1970 and reunited in 1982. The reunited group features most of the original members. During the 12 year absence, several of the members performed with other bands of notoriety such as The Gregg Allman Band, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Sea Level. After the group reunited, the members had undertaken other careers, but agreed to perform on a limited basis after an enthusiastic acceptance at local performances. A recording released in 1989 is entitled "People Get Ready" and features songs of the Sixties that remain popular with all age groups. The band maintains its enthusiasm for the music and the style of the Sixties, featuring hit songs that are classified as Rhythm and Blues, Soul, and Beach Music. The band combines a sound of full instrumentation that includes guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and a five-piece horn and woodwind section. The band also features choreography and "Sound in Motion" with its own version of "Showtime". more >>> General Admission$12.00 in advance $15.00 day of show
