The University of Georgia's Obesity Initiative, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Family and Consumer Science will host a short seminar on the state's "Feed My School" initiative. Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Gary Black will discuss how the initiative started and what his goals are for the program. Since it was launched last year, the "Feed My School for the Week" program has connected thousands of Georgia students with local farmers, by supplying their school cafeterias with enough local produce and meat to feed their school for a week. While, the seminar is open to anyone, it will primarily address questions raised by faculty and graduate students who are working on local food and obesity research across the University.
