Coverdell Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences 175"Reducing the Devastating Effects of Rift Valley Fever in Kenya," Baldwyn Torto, chemical ecologist at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology.Torto served as  principal scientist and head of the Behavioural and Chemical Ecology Department at ICIPE since 2007. He obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Ghana in 1988, then traveling to the  University of Maine, Orono, USA for postdoctoral research in 1989. He initially worked at ICIPE from 1991–1999 before departing in 2000 to Rothamsted Research, UK, as an Rothamsted International Fellow. From 2001–2006, Torto was a Visiting Research Chemist at the United States Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) Center for Medical, Agricultural and Veterinary Entomology, Gainesville, FL. Today, he carries out research and advises ICIPE postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows in chemical ecology.The One Health @ UGA Lectures Series aims to highlight efforts at UGA and the Southeast focused on interdisciplinary teaching and learning, research, and outreach at the nexus of human, animal and ecological health.  It is supported by the BHSI Division of One Health.
