From UGA Sports Communications

ATHENS, Ga. --- A four-run sixth inning propelled the No. 19 Georgia softball team (28-13) to a 7-2 victory over Georgia Tech (12-28) on Wednesday night at Jack Turner Stadium, making it the ninth straight win over the in-state rival.

Up 3-2 going into the sixth, an Alyssa DiCarlo single followed by walks to Lacey Sumerlin and Brea Dickey loaded the bases for Kendall Burton to earn an RBI the hard way with a hit by pitch. Alysen Febrey then notched her third hit of the night to allow two to score before Jordan Doggett wrapped up the 7-2 win with an RBI single.

Febrey was 3-for-3 on the night, as Georgia took 10 hits off of Yellow Jacket pitcher Emily Anderson (4-10). Cortni Emanuel and DiCarlo each notched two hits apiece.

Kylie Bass (6-0) posted her second complete game of the year, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out a season-high seven batters.

GT reached the scoreboard first with a bases-loaded passed ball to go up in the second. Georgia went up 2-1 in the third with Sydni Emanuel tabbing an RBI hit while Sumerlin put a sacrifice fly to left field. The Jackets responded in the next frame with a run from a bases-loaded walk to tie it up.

Maeve McGuire put Georgia ahead for good, as the first pitch she saw in the fourth went over the centerfield wall, her fourth home run of the season.

The Bulldogs jump back into SEC play, as they host the Bulldogs of Mississippi State in a three-game conference series starting on Friday at 6 p.m. ET. All games will be featured on SEC Network+/WatchESPN.
