As Florida C Patric Young climbed the ladder to cut down a piece of the net tonight, fans at the O’Connell Center began cheering, “One more year, one more year.”
Will they get it?
Young, a junior, says he has not thought much about it.
“I’m gonna have to make that decision soon,” he said after the Gators beat Vanderbilt 66-40 to clinch the SEC championship outright. “I’m gonna have to make that sometime in the future.
“They’re thinking about it, but I’m not. I love being here. There’s no better program in America. I love playing under Coach Donovan. I’m gonna do whatever’s best for me and my family and whatever makes me happy, honestly. When I look back, I want to say I lived at Florida to the maximum.”
Young, a 6-foot-9 center from Jacksonville, is averaging 10.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. He is shooting 61.5 percent from the field.
He had 14 points on 6-for-7 shooting with four rebounds and three blocks against Vanderbilt.
CBS and DraftExpress project him as an early to mid-second round pick.
