Braxton Ogbueze did not play much for Florida last season and did not foresee getting much time next year, either.
A day after Rutgers guard Eli Carter announced his intent to transfer to the Gators, Ogbueze decided to leave UF. In a statement released by Florida, he said he “learned a lot that will help me in the future.”
He played sparingly as a freshman, totaling 19 points in 23 games.
Carter, a junior-to-be, is hoping the NCAA will grant him immediate eligibility at Florida because he left Rutgers in the wake of an unusual controversy. Former coach Mike Rice was fired because of physical and verbal abuse of players.
Carter (6-2, 195) averaged 14.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last season.
