Vine's got you covered on the men's side of things, so let's talk about the women.
The Lady Dawgs (25-6) make their 30th appearance, out of 32 ever played, in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday squaring off with the Montana Lady Grizzlies (24-7). The game will be available on ESPN2, and is scheduled to tip off Saturday evening at 6:30. As it seems they always do, Andy Landers' women will head to the West (or "Spokane") bracket.
Stanford is the #1 seed, and Georgia's probable Sweet 16 opponent should they get past Montana, and then the winner of Iowa St/Gonzaga in round 2. The Lady Cardinal by the way, have made the last 5 Final Fours, reaching the Championship game twice. Again, as it seems always happens, Georgia will have to make a long trip to face some extremely strong competitors.
The Lady Griz won both the Big Sky regular season, and the conference tournament (where they never trailed for a single second). This will be their 20th trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Gonzaga's Lady Bulldogs (27-5) made their 5th straight NCAA Tournament after winning the West Coast Conference regular season and tournament titles.
Top 25 Iowa St (23-8) earned an at-large berth, after falling in the Big 12 Conference Tournament finals to powerhouse Baylor. The Lady Cyclones have made 7 straight NCAA Tournament fields. They have made 14 appearances in the dance under coach Bill Fennelly, and are 16-13 all-time in the tourney. They have made 5 runs into the Sweet 16, including two trips to the Elite 8 (1999 and 2009). So since it's not 2019, we should be safe there.
Your Lady Dawgs are led by the two Jasmines, James and Hassell. The senior PG James, out of Memphis, averaged over 10 points and 2 steals per night, and led the team in assists. F Jasmine Hassell, from Lebanon, TN, led the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.9 pts and 6.5 boards per game. They were the only ones to start all 31 games for Landers' squad.
