Gators quarterbacks better in second year: A comparison of quarterbacks including Shane Matthews, Danny Wuerffel, Rex Grossman, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow and John Brantley shows hope that Jeff Driskel will be better this fall pretty much by default. But the article does a good job in summarizing why in just one paragraph. (Michael DiRocco, ESPN/SEC Blog)
Muschamp in Lakeland: So he's for the best player at his position starting, one of the best getting playing time and he's against a nine-game SEC schedule. Sounds good to me. (Ray Beastock, The Lakeland Ledger)
Bob Stoops says SEC gap isn't all that: I get the point that he made about the 'bottom-six' in the SEC and the fact that they haven't contributed to any National Championships, but still, you live and die as a conference as a whole. I don't care how many Big 12 teams made bowl games last year because first and foremost, when you can make a bowl game with a .500 record (or worse, Georgia Tech in the ACC), simply making a bowl game doesn't really mean anything. (Jon Cooper, Saturday Down South)
Matt Jones says hello: Chris Low of ESPN's SEC Blog is apparently a big, big fan of Matt Jones. I still think the season rests upon the offensive line getting better and more consistent play from Jeff Driskel as Low mentions as well. But those two things go hand-in-hand, so we'll see. (Staff, ESPN/SEC Blog)
Gators baseball beats Owls: They're now four games above .500 and have outscored their opponents 29-2 over the last two games. If there was a time to heat up, this is it. But is it too little too late? (Kevin Brockway, The Gainesville Sun)
Tim Walton gets SEC COY award: The Gators softball team won plenty of awards, but Walton's fourth SEC Coach of the Year award in only his eight overall year in Gainesville was definitely the highlight. (Staff, The Gainesville Sun)
