Born in West Virginia, raised in Ohio, and a graduate of Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Kris Harris has held music-related jobs for most of his life.  He worked at Turtle’s Records from 1983-1993, gathering a wealth of music & artist knowledge.  Upon graduating from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Kris went to work full-time at WNGM Television in Athens.  Channel 34 would become a launching pad for him as he worked in every facet of television production, from lighting and videography to sound and editing.

Kris launched his own show, “30 Minutes of Rock”, in Fall of 1988.  This half hour music video/comedy program eventually blossomed to an hour, then later, 2-hour format.  Blending contemporary and classic rock music videos with artist interviews, live concert footage, contests and giveaways, and off-beat sketches and humorous segments, Kris had found a niche that exploded in popularity through North Georgia and beyond.  The pinnacle of accomplishment came in the form of being flown to Los Angeles and winning the Billboard Magazine National Music Video Show of the Year Award in back-to-back years, 1993 & 1994.  Kris’ reputation and contacts throughout the music industry made this small, local product into a nationally recognized program.

Kris then accepted a position as senior writer/producer for Media One in Atlanta.  This job provided endless creative outlets for client television commercials, short and long form video projects, and TV show production.  Working with the Olympics and Paralympics in Atlanta and a litter campaign video featuring Evander Holyfield were some of the highlights of this chapter of Kris’ career.  It was during this time that a viewer of his show who was Program Director of WPUP, contacted Kris about doing a radio version of the program.

Kris accepted and began his career with Southern Broadcasting in 1997.  Kris quickly received accolades from the Atlantis Music Awards for the “30 Minutes of Rock” radio show as their show of the year.  After overnight shifts, evening live call-in shifts, and production coordinator jobs, Kris became host of the morning show on WPUP in 1998.  Since then, Kris has kept North Georgia entertained every morning with a blend of music, humor and entertainment that is off-beat, self-depricating, fresh and never takes itself too seriously. In 2009, Kris moved from mornings on WPUP to  mid-days on sister WGMG when "100.1 The Bulldog" became "Power 100.1". Beginning in August of 2011, Kris also became the co-host of "The Morning Show" on 960 The Ref.

He has stayed in tune with the community by hosting a weekly trivia event since 1999 and has been employed by the University of Georgia to announce college volleyball, men’s & women’s basketball, and the Spring G-Day football game.  Kris also coordinates and executes an annual holiday charity concert event called “Santa Slam” where local and national bands have provided their performances for the benefit of area charities.
