ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia gymnastics team was ranked No. 9 in the nation according to the RoadToNationals.com Preseason Coaches Poll.
All eight teams in the SEC were ranked in the poll. LSU (No. 2) was leading the way, followed by Alabama (No. 3), Florida (No. 5) and Auburn (No. 8). After the ninth-ranked Gymdogs, Arkansas (No. 17), Missouri (No. 19) and Kentucky (No. 21) rounded out the conference’s presence in the preseason rankings.
Georgia lost three All-American gymnasts from its 2016 team that finished sixth nationally after also starting the season with a No. 9 ranking. In Durante’s four seasons at the helm at UGA, the Gymdogs have outperformed their preseason rank three times – all three ending with a trip to the Super Six.
The full rankings are available here.
The annual Sneak Peek will be taking place on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Suzanne Yoculan Gymnastics Complex, as the newly-ninth-ranked Gymdogs have their final chance to compete in front of fans before the season opens on January 6 at LSU.
Season tickets remain on sale, and single-meet tickets will be available starting Thursday, December 15.
