The state Department of Public Health says Athens' two-week rolling total of new coronavirus cases checked in Thursday at just over 700, less than half the 1,600 that was reported last week. Athens has had 42 coronavirus deaths since March. Oconee County has had 26.
The Georgia Department of Public Health says the state’s coronavirus death toll climbs to more than 6,800, with another 52 deaths from COVID 19 reported Thursday.
It looks like school leaders in Georgia will have the final say when it comes to how much weight will be placed on standardized tests. Woods is now recommending that the academic weight of the Milestones be reduced from 20 percent, down close to zero.
