The North Hall Community Center is open again for early voting in the 9th District Congressional runoff: the Center in Gainesville closed earlier this week after one Center staffer tested positive for coronavirus.
Athens is approaching the 1,800 mark in the five-month total of confirmed cases of coronavirus, with now 1,797 and still 17 deaths from COVID 19 in Athens. The Georgia Department of Public Health says there have been 507 new cases over the past two weeks. Oconee County has added 94 cases in the last two weeks, bringing its total to 401. There have been 15 deaths from coronavirus in Oconee County.
The state is closing in on 200,000 cases and 4,000 deaths from coronavirus: the Georgia Department of Public Health says another 81 deaths over the past 24 hours brings the total to 3,971 over the past five months.
