Local government notes include A-CC Commission, Clarke Co BOE meetings

The Clarke County School Board meets tonight, a 6 o’clock virtual session that will stream live on the Clarke County School District YouTube channel. Athens-Clarke County Commissioners will convene another afternoon work session, 5:30 via WebEx and streaming on the Athens-Clarke County government’s YouTube channel.

Madison County state Senator Frank Ginn lands a high-profile committee chairmanship: Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan has named the Danielsville Republican Chair of the Senate Transportation committee.

The Board of Education in Commerce has a new Board Chairman: Nathan Anderson was chosen for the post during this week’s School Board meeting in Commerce. The Barrow County School Board, meeting in Winder, has chosen Bill Ritter as its Board Chair.

Elberton attorney John Clark says he is stepping down as president of the Elbert County NAACP. It is a post Clarke has held since 1999.

Franklin County Commissioners, meeting in Carnesville, say they will spend the next ten days interviewing candidates for the vacant Franklin County manager’s post. Former Manager Beth Thomas resigned in November.

The Gainesville City Council meets this morning, a 9 o’clock work session at the Administration Building in Gainesville.
