UGA Baseball releases 2020 schedule

ATHENS------The Georgia Bulldogs will have 35 games at Foley Field in 2019, featuring Southeastern Conference series with South Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Kentucky.

The 56-game college baseball season begins Feb. 14 at Foley Field with a series against Richmond. Nine of Georgia’s first 10 contests will be at home.

The annual series with Georgia Tech will be played on three consecutive days starting Friday, Feb. 28 at Foley Field followed by a game at SunTrust Park in Atlanta and then will conclude with one on Tech’s campus. The game at SunTrust will serve as the 18th annual Spring Baseball Classic to benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The Bulldogs are 11-6 all-time against Tech in this game that began in 2003 at Turner Field and moved to SunTrust in 2017.

Georgia will open SEC play on the road for the fourth straight year, this time against Florida (March 13-15) while the Bulldogs SEC home opener will be with the Gamecocks (March 20-22). The other SEC home series will be with the Tigers (April 9-11), the Volunteers (April 24-26), the Rebels (May 1-3), and the Wildcats (May 14-16).

Along with the series in Gainesville, Fla., Georgia’s road trips in the conference will be at Vanderbilt (March 27-29), Texas A&M (April 3-5), Missouri (April 17-19) and Arkansas (May 8-10). Please note the ESPNU and SEC Network Thursday night selections have not been set, thus some SEC series may change to Thursday-Saturday.

For the third year in a row, Georgia will play a game at SRP Park in North Augusta, S.C., the home of the Augusta Green Jackets, the Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The Bulldogs will face Georgia Southern on March 4 at 5 p.m. Last year, Georgia blanked The Citadel 9-0 in front of an SRP crowd of 3,602 while in 2017, a crowd of 5,801 watched Georgia beat No. 8 Clemson 6-3 there.

The SEC Tournament will feature the league’s top 12 finishers in the regular season and be played in Hoover, Ala., from May 19-24. NCAA Regional action at various campus sites will be May 29-June 1 with Super Regionals from June 5-8. The 2020 season culminates with the College World Series (CWS) from June 13-23 in Omaha, Neb. The Bulldogs have made six appearances in Omaha including winning the national title in 1990 and reaching the CWS Finals in 2008.

Georgia will begin fall practice Sept. 18. The Bulldogs will play exhibitions against Columbus State on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. at Foley Field and versus Florida on Nov. 1 in Jacksonville at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free for the exhibition in Athens and the three-game Red and Black Fall World Series (Oct. 25-27).

Tickets for the Georgia-Florida exhibition at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville are $15 (plus applicable fees) and include a postgame concert featuring award-winning country sensation Brett Young with special guests and a fireworks show. Also, several key components of the pitching staff are back including premium draft prospects Emerson Hancock and Cole Wilcox. The 2019 Bulldogs earned a final top 20 national ranking after going 46-17 including 21-9 in the SEC.
