Athens Rivers Alive cleanup Saturday

Athens' annual Rivers Alive Cleanup is set for Saturday: volunteers will gather at 9 tomorrow and fan out along rivers and streams in Athens, cleaning up trash and debris until around 11 o’clock Saturday morning.

From the Athens-Clarke Co government website…

Athens area residents will wade into local rivers, lakes and streams as part of the continuing statewide campaign to clean and preserve over 70,000 miles of Georgia’s rivers and streams. Participants must pre-register for one of the several clean-up sites around Athens. All sites have been approved for social distancing and volunteers must follow COVID precautions. Registration closes October 9th, and spots are limited. Find more information and the link to register at www.accgov.com/riversalive.
