PEARLAND, Texas — Five people were killed, including one juvenile, on Saturday in a crash involving two cars in a south Houston suburb, authorities said.
The accident occurred at about 7:28 p.m. CDT in Pearland, KTRK-TV reported.
According to the Pearland Police Department, a preliminary investigation suggested that one vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck another, causing the second vehicle to roll over and eject four people inside, KHOU-TV reported.
Three people ejected from the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, including the juvenile, according to KTRK. The driver of the first car and another person died at an area hospital, according to Pearland police.
Two juveniles were also injured and were taken to an area hospital, police said.
Pearland police said an investigation is ongoing.
